Interior painting in the Grand Rapids area
Rooms, trim, doors and cabinets — prepped properly so it lasts.
What usually goes wrong
- A previous paint job that went patchy
- Peeling in a bathroom or near a window
- Kitchen cabinets you want changed without replacing
- Walls that still show the old color through
- Nail holes and dents you have stopped noticing but guests have not
What this covers
- Rooms and ceilings
- Trim and doors
- Cabinet painting
How we do it
-
Prep is most of the job
Washing, filling, sanding and caulking is where the time goes and where the result comes from. Anyone quoting a fast price is quoting less prep.
-
Fix the reason it failed
Peeling in a bathroom is usually moisture or a missing primer, not bad paint. Repainting without addressing that just buys a year.
-
Prime what needs priming
Bare filler, stains and big color changes get primed. It's the difference between two coats and four.
-
Cut in properly
Clean lines at the ceiling, trim and corners, done by hand. This is the part people actually look at.
Questions worth asking
- How many coats?
- Two on most walls. Big color changes or covering a dark color can need a primer plus two, and we'll tell you at the quote rather than after.
- Do you move the furniture?
- We move what needs moving to the middle and cover it. Anything valuable or awkward, we'd rather agree in advance.
- Can you paint kitchen cabinets?
- Yes, and it transforms a kitchen for a fraction of replacing it. It's a slow job done properly — degreasing, sanding, priming and thin coats — so expect several days, not one.
What it costs
Every job is priced on its own. Text or email a photo of what you're looking at and we can usually give you a number without coming out — for bigger jobs we'll come and see it properly first.
You get the price before we start, not after.
